In this video interview, Carrie provides an introduction to Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and how it can be used throughout the 8 stages of treatment in combination with play therapy techniques. Carrie explains how children respond differently to EMDR techniques and modifications that play therapists and other clinicians can make to make EMDR more play-based.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the theory of EMDR and how it can be used within a play therapy setting.
2). Explain the 8 stages of EMDR and how/when to incorporate play therapy at each stage.
3). Provide examples of ways to use relaxation and resource development techniques in a play therapy setting.
4) Explain how to use EMDR with play therapy with very young children.
5. Describe ways that EMDR can be used for issues not related to trauma including test anxiety and performance enhancement.
