Course Description:

Dr. Mullen, will explore the role of feedback in play therapy supervision. Participants will learn how experiential tools can expand the traditional didactic framework of feedback in play therapy supervision. Play therapy supervisors or supervisors-in-training, will learn the what and how of feedback to promote clinical and professional growth in their play therapy supervisees.


Objectives

Through instructive examples, participants will 

1) gain an understanding of the multiple and complex roles of the play therapy supervisor; 

2) learn supervisory interventions that are specific to the unique challenges play therapists that strengthen and expand the processes of supervision, the practice of play therapy, and the personal growth of the supervisee; 

3) identify what style of feedback should be used when so that the potential for supervisee growth is optimized.

Continuing Education Credits

Instructor Jodi Mullen, PhD, LMHC, NCC, RPT-S, CCPT-S

Dr. Jodi Mullen is a professor at SUNY Oswego in the Counseling & Psychological Services Department. She primarily teaches in the Mental Health Counseling Program. She is the director of Integrative Counseling Services, with several offices in Central New York. Dr. Mullen is an international speaker, author, credentialed play therapist and play therapy supervisor. Dr. Mullen has over 30 years in the field of counseling. She has authored books on play therapy, counseling children and adolescents, supervision, grief counseling and parenting. Dr. Mullen was the 2008 recipient of the Key Award for Professional Training & Education through the Association for Play Therapy. She is the proud Momma of Leah & Andrew.
