Play in therapy dates back to the early 1900s in psychological and counseling theory. This 3 hour recorded course will explore the early beginnings and references of what is now modern-day play therapy. Origins in psychological and counseling theory will be explained and the emergence into formal play therapy theories will be covered. The emergence of play therapy theories (child centered play therapy and filial therapy) will be covered. Additionally, this course will also highlight historically significant developments in in play therapy and look at the current global impact.
1) Understand the early implementations of play in therapy.
2) Describe a timeline of play therapy development to present day.
3) Discuss the beginnings of play therapy theory formation.
4) Identify significant play therapy developments such as the formation of the Association for Play Therapy.

About This Training:
This is a non-contact online/home study training that focuses on play therapy supervision issues when working with parents.
You will need internet access to complete this training.
You will be asked to read through the PowerPoint (this is your training guide), you will also be asked to read articles/readings, watch video clips, and complete experiential activities.
It’s expected that you will complete all the exercises and not skip over any parts of this training. Many of the exercises are referenced on the post exam at the end of the training.
