This 3 hour sandtray course includes a 100 page downloadable course book and an additional journal workbook!

This course will provide both an introduction to the theory and practice of sandtray therapy for clients of all ages as a powerful approach to integrate into your practice. You will deepen your understanding of sand therapy, play therapy and the transformative power of these approaches. This course is designed for beginner sand therapists and seasoned sand therapists. Experiential activities, and personal sandtray creations grounded in the Therapeutic Powers of Play, affirm the healing potential of sandtray and play therapy work. This foundation course introduces participants to the principles of play therapy and sandtray therapy through use of images in the sand including theory, practice, ethics, and self-exploration.


Objectives

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the history, theory, & rationale for play therapy and sandtray therapy.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge regarding the selection of sandtray materials, miniature and sand.
  3. Identify the 3 differences between directive and/or non-directive approach of sandtray play therapy.
  4. Describe 4 interventions to process sandtrays with clients of all ages.
  5. Identify 3 ways to process sandtray therapy with adult clients
  6. Explain the differences between sandplay and sandtray therapy
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of working with various client populations in the sandtray play therapy process.


Instructor Tammi Van Hollander, LCSW, RPT-S

TAMMI VAN HOLLANDER, LCSW, RPT, is a licensed clinical social worker and registered play therapist. She is the owner of Main Line Play Therapy in Ardmore, PA. Tammi is an international speaker and play advocate. She is a certified Trainer for the Nurtured Heart Approach®, a certified FirstPlay® practitioner, trained in level one Theraplay® and EMDR. Her work and creative interventions in the field of play therapy have been published and internationally recognized. Her Facebook community is internationally recognized for her resources and interventions that are shared with teachers, parents, clinicians and other professionals. She specializes in attachment, sandtray play therapy & sensory integration working with children, families, and adults of all ages. Tammi is the author of an attachment-based multi-sensory story titled Casey’s Greatness Wings: Teaching Mindfulness, Connection and Courage to Children.
