Learn the underlying theory and the interventions that will help your clients fall in love with journaling (and start getting results!)

In this one-hour recorded workshop. participants will get an introduction to the components of using journaling and/or expressive writing theories and interventions as part of their psychotherapy practice.  Includes journal prompts and applications.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and explain three components of the Journal Ladder
  • Compare and contrast the benefits of using various writing prompts in a therapeutic environment
  • Practice identifying and selecting at least 4 different types of therapuetic writing prompts based on various theoretical orientations, the client's presenting problem, and the client's experience with using a journal.


Jen Taylor is a licensed psychotherapist, a certified Journal to the Self Instructor and a Registered Play Therapist -Supervisor but this group is all for self-care and fun!

Instructor Jennifer Taylor, DSW, LCSW, RPT-S

Jennifer Taylor, DSW, LCSW, earned her Doctor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky, her Master of Social Work from Florida State University, and her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of West Florida. Dr. Taylor is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Maryland, a Registered Play Therapist–Supervisor, and an EMDR Approved Consultant. Dr. Taylor owns a private psychotherapy practice in Sarasota, Florida, where she specializes in complex interpersonal trauma. She is also the founder of Jennifer Taylor Play Therapy Services, a continuing education platform through which she organizes, teaches, and implements transformative training programs for mental health professionals. Dr. Taylor serves as Senior Manager of the Institute for Professional Development and Grant-Funded Clinical Programs at Jewish Community Services of Baltimore. In this role, she provides clinical leadership, program development, and oversight of large-scale behavioral health initiatives serving children and families. She has presented nationally and internationally and has authored multiple book chapters on play therapy, clinical supervision, and nature-based interventions. Dr. Taylor has also served as an adjunct professor of social work at the University of Memphis and the University of West Florida. Her research focuses on multistate licensure and clinical practice as a developing specialty area, informed by her lived experience practicing across five states as a military spouse. Her work emphasizes theoretically grounded clinical practice alongside intentional continuing education that fosters reflective, meaningful, and individualized professional development for clinicians and the clients they serve.
