Course Description:

As children use toys to express themselves in play therapy, supervisors can utilize the experiential tools presented for symbolic language. Presenter will deconstruct the play therapy supervisory relationship, illustrating how experiential tools can expand the traditional didactic framework of supervision. We will introduce, define, and demonstrate numerous tools and techniques, from a wide variety of theoretical perspectives that can all be used to expand the didactic framework of traditional supervision.  Participants will have a first-hand opportunity to grasp how these experiential tools help to create a symbolic language of expression that can strengthen and expand the processes of supervision, the practice of play therapy and the personal growth of the supervisee.

Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

 1) Understand the rationale for the inclusion of experiential tools and techniques within play therapy supervision,

2) Distinguish a minimum of three different supervisory roles and identify at least one experiential tool or technique that can be used within each role,

 3) Explain the theoretical framework of two experiential tools and techniques, providing an explanation of their use within supervision.
