Course description

Sometimes children come to play therapy when parents are divorced or going through divorce with concern for the child’s ability to adjust to the changes. This 2-hour workshop will focus on play therapy interventions to support children through the complexities of emotional challenges that come with living with divorced or divorcing parents while remaining firmly in the role as therapist for the children.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the role of play therapist for the child client in divorce cases with specific structure to the course of play therapy from intake to termination.
  2. Recite 10 play therapy interventions specifically designed to support children whose parents are divorced or divorcing.
  3. Explain how to teach children and parents about a child’s rights when parents are divorced or divorcing through playful language implemented during the course of play therapy.
