In this video interview, Robyn Gobbel explains how she uses music and movement as play therapy interventions to help children with disorganized attachment  or other serious behavioral challenges.  She provides information about the neuroscience behind how combining play, movement, and music help heal children 'from the bottom up' in regards to brain development. Robyn shares her unconventional approach to playroom design and  provides practical interventions for incorporating music and movement into play sessions with both children and caregivers. 

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the neuroscience behind how play, music and movement help resolves issues of early childhood trauma during play therapy sessions.

2. Describe elements to incorporate into your play therapy room to enhance regulation through music and movement.

3. Explain ways to use movement and/or music based play therapy interventions to help children with attachment problems learn regulation skills.

4. Explain ways to use music and/or music based play therapy interventions with children and their caregivers together to enhance attachment and interpersonal relationship skills.


Guest Speaker Robyn Gobbel, LCSW, RPT-S

Robyn Gobbel, LCSW is a psychotherapist specializing in adoption, attachment, and trauma. She is the founder of the Central Texas Attachment & Trauma Center. Robyn works with young children and their families, as well as adults. She is a speaker, trainer, and writer whose greatest superpower is being with people in a way that makes them feel seen, gotten, heard, and deeply cared for.Jennifer Taylor Play Therapy Services is an Approved Provider with the Association for Play Therapy.
