It’s time to take your play therapy work to the next level! Dive into the dynamic field of Prescriptive Play Therapy (PPT) through this 6-hour recorded webinar designed for practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding and application of play therapy principles. This course is ideal for therapists who aim to tailor their approach to meet the unique therapeutic needs of children, families, and groups using evidence-based play therapy strategies. Participants will engage in a comprehensive introduction to the philosophy and implementation of PPT.

Additionally, participants will delve into the application of PPT with an emphasis on overcoming roadblocks and building confidence.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the foundational philosophy and process of Prescriptive Play Therapy (PPT).

2. Identify the main theories underpinning PPT and articulate core tenets.

3. Examine ethical considerations and competency requirements for practicing PPT.

4. Conduct a self-assessment to identify personal knowledge and gaps in PPT approaches.

5. Develop strategies to address and overcome roadblocks in the application of PPT.

6. Design a "My Prescriptive Wheel" to map existing and desired knowledge in play therapy theories.

This training is a 6-hour recorded webinar focusing on prescriptive play therapy.

A PowerPoint is provided to follow along with the recorded webinar.

It’s expected that you will complete (watch) the whole webinar and not skip any parts of this training. There is a post exam at the end of the webinar.

Continuing Education:

This training is approved for 6 CE Hrs for the below continuing education bodies. Upon completion of the training materials, training evaluation, and post exam (with a score of 80% or higher), the training certificate of completion will be issued to the participant.


- Robert Jason Grant Ed.D APT Approved Provider #12-318 for continuing education. If you are counting this training toward the 150 hours to become an RPT or RPT-S, the 6 hours can be calculated as any combination of 6 toward skills and methods, special topics, applicants’ choice.

- AutPlay Therapy Clinic has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6595. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. AutPlay Therapy Clinic is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.


Instructor Robert Jason Grant, EdD, M.S., LPC, NCC, RPT-S

I hold a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, Master’s Degree in Counseling, and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families, primarily serving neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, sensory differences, learning disorders, and developmental disabilities). I am the creator of AutPlay® Therapy, an integrative family play therapy framework designed to help address the mental health needs of neurodivergent children and adolescents. I am also trauma informed and trained and utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I utilize several years of advanced training and my own lived neurodivergent experience to work with children and their families. I have infused my experience and love for education and mental health care to create training programs for professionals and caregivers. I am an international trainer and keynote presenter having presented for the American Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and The World Autism Congress. I am also a multi- published author of several articles, book chapters, and books including the following titles: The AutPlay® Therapy Handbook: Integrative Family Play Therapy with Neurodivergent Children Understanding Sensory Differences: A Neurodiversity Affirming Guidebook for Children and Teens Understanding Autism: A Neurodiversity Affirming Guidebook for Children and Teens Understanding ADHD: A Neurodiversity Affirming Guidebook for Children and Teens Implementing Play Therapy with Groups: Contemporary Issues in Practice Play Therapy Theories and Perspectives: Diversity of Thought in the Field In 2015, I was awarded Play Therapist of the Year by the Missouri Association for Play Therapy. In 2017, I was presented with the APT Service Award by the National Association for Play Therapy. I am currently serving on the board of directors for the Association for Play Therapy. I am also a part time instructor in the Play Therapy Certificate program at Mid America Nazarene University (MNU). Instructor Clair Mellenthin, PhD, LCSW, RPT-S

Clair Mellenthin, PhD, LCSW, RPT-S holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Throughout her career, she has focused on providing play therapy to children, teens, and their families. She is currently the Director of Child & Adolescents at Wasatch Family Therapy.Ms. Mellenthin is a sought after supervisor, training graduate students and interns in play therapy, and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern California MSW program. She is the Past-President of the Utah Association For Play Therapy and remains an active member on the Board of Directors. She is the author of Attachment Centered Play Therapy, My Many Colors of Me Workbook.

Instructor Jessica Stone, PhD, RPT-S

Jessica Stone, Ph.D., RPT-S, is a licensed psychologist working in a private practice setting. She has been a practitioner, professor, presenter, mentor, and author for more than 30 years. Dr. Stone’s interest in therapeutic digital tools, specifically using virtual reality, tablets, consoles, and AI has culminated in clinical mental health use and research for mental health, medical, and crisis settings. She is the co-creator of the Virtual Sandtray App for iPad (VSA) and the Virtual Sandtray for Virtual Reality (VSA-VR). Dr. Stone is the past Chief Psychology Officer for AscendantVR, is a member of various boards, and serves as an affiliate of the East Carolina University College of Education Neurocognition Science Laboratory.
