In this 2-hour webinar, we will explore the complexities of conducting the parent intake, establishing the treatment plan and finding appropriate and strategic ways to involve the parents when one or both parents exhibit very difficult behavioral and personality traits in order to preserve the therapeutic relationship with the child and ensure the integrity of the play therapy process.
After taking this training, participants will be able to achieve the following learning objectives:
- Name 7 types of common challenging personality types difficult parents present before and during the play therapy process.
- List 10 specific strategies on how to navigate the relationship with challenging parents effectively so as to preserve the integrity of the play therapy process for and with the child client.
- Explain why it is important to develop strategies for overcoming the challenges of working with challenging parents in the process of play therapy.
