Family to Family: A Comparison of Play Therapy Models and Interventions with Families in the United States and Kenya
This non-refundable registration includes 8 live webinar CE hours, 20 APT contact hours and NBCC CE hours, 5 lunches, and transportation/admission to excursions including Museum of Kenya, Giraffe House, Elephant Sanctuary, Jeep Safari in Kenya National Park. This does not include hotel, airfare, travel visa, immunizations, and other ground transportation, other meals or activities or other family members. Participant is responsible for all required passports, visas, etc and encouraged to purchase travel insurance for the trip.
YES! We are working with our partner therapists at APT Kenya to arrange for some off-site educational opportunities. Also, please plan to extend your travel dates (after the training) to include any other locations on your travel-bucket list.
$1400 plus hotel, airfare and other travel related expenses. Lodging at the conference hotel is $170 per night and can be paid directly to the hotel. Training fees DO include, daily buffet style lunch, workshop fees/continuing education and the 4 part pre-training series "The Global Family" What's not included? Airfare, ground transportation, excursions, additional food, souvenirs, etc. The required International Multicultural Ethics prerequisite training is not included and must be completed by August 26, 2022.
Family members may travel with you; however, they are not permitted in the training workshops unless they are mental health professionals that have also registered for the conference (email Jen Taylor for details on how to do that if this applies to you). Any children must have appropriate ADULT supervision for the entire training period. The training is scheduled for 4-5 hours per day so you will have plenty of time to spend with your family enjoying the local area.
YES. All associated travel costs are at your own-expense. You must have a passport that is valid for 6 months after our arrival in Kenya. Additional travel VISA's and documents will be required. Immunizations are required and at your own expense; however, the team will work with participants to help explain all of the details.
You are strongly encouraged to consider travel insurance (at your own expense) in case of any delays, illnesses or other unplanned emergencies.
We are reserving 20 spaces for those who will be traveling from outside Africa. There are an additional 20 spaces for therapists who are residents of Kenya and surrounding countries. We anticipate a total of approximately 40 participants. This event is intentionally small so that you have an opportunity to form relationships with the other participants.
APTK is a professional association for counsellors and psychologists and other mental health professionals in Kenya. The association seeks to bring together professionals who use play therapy as a treatment modality. APTK believes in advancing the cause of play therapy across various settings. The board of APT Kenya is co-hosting this conference (including all required pre-training) and is integrally involved in all aspects of the curriculum, planning, and teaching/facilitation of the course materials. *APT Kenya is not specifically affiliated with the United States Association for Play Therapy.
