In this course, you will learn several recommended assessment methods to better illuminate the parent’s and child’s experiences of attachment and touch. This will be done in six ways through: 1) assessing the parent’s own experiences of intergenerational attachment, 2) creating a family “Tree,” 3) assessing the child’s attachment experiences, 4) assessing the parent-child relationship dynamics through a Kinetic Family Drawing, 5) assessing the parents perceptions of their child’s attachment and touch experiences 6) a teacher assessment rating scale.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Demonstrate how to implement a brief genogram to quickly assess a parent’s experiences of attachment and touch.
Demonstrate how to assess for a child’s attachment figures.
List the seven steps of how to implement a Kinetic Family drawing with a child.
Demonstrate how to implement a Collaborative parent-child assessment drawing.
State how to use the Teacher’s Touch Rating scale for a child.
State how to implement parent’s perceptions of touch for their child.

Once you have completed that course, you can move directly to Level 2 of the Somatic Storytelling series.
The three-part Somatic Storytelling series is 37.5 hours of training in all three Levels of the Somatic Storytelling series. After completing the training, contact Dr. Courtney to schedule individual or group consultation sessions to review the material and demonstrate competency in the techniques.
