Description
Supervising play therapy requires more than pressing play and watching a session unfold. The APT credentialing process requires that supervisors observe candidates in five play therapy sessions - but what happens during those observations matters as much as the hours themselves.
This 2.5-hour course, taught by Dr. Jodi Mullen (RPT-S, CCPT-Master) and Dr. Jennifer Taylor (DSW, RPT-S), gives supervisors and supervisees alike a structured, clinical framework for getting the most out of required session reviews. Whether you are conducting observations via video, live stream, or in-person, this course equips you to move beyond general feedback and into targeted, meaningful supervision conversations.
Using the "Jobs in Play Therapy Supervision" framework, participants will learn how to observe with intention, identify what to look for at each stage of session review, and translate what they see into developmental feedback that actually sticks. Practical examples, guided exercises, and real session footage are included.
This course is appropriate for RPT-Supervisors conducting required observations, RPT candidates preparing to be observed, and any clinician who wants a more structured approach to reflective session review.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will examine how child and play therapy supervisors can use recorded play therapy sessions to enhances a supervisee' self-awareness, professional growth, and therapeutic effectiveness.
